Indian administration recently came up with exact numbers of beggars around different states of India. Social Justice Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot stepped forward with figures in reply to Lok Sabha and disclosed that about 4 Lakh beggars are in India. According to the data, 4,13,670 beggars are living in India, out of which 2,21,673 are males and 1,91,1997 are females. Mentioned briefly, states like West Bengal, Assam and Manipur exceeds number of female beggars comparatively. And as per 2011 census, West Bengal tops the list followed by Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Hijab ban in an Indian college triggered agitation and protest against administration’s order

It started when in December Udupi’s Kundapur PU college in Karnataka (southern India) issued a circular for students to not wear hijab in classrooms for maintaining uniformity. The matter escalated when some students started wearing saffron scarves to protest against the hijab wearing Muslim students.
